Founded in 2010, we began by advocating for new ideas about the future of housing through our publication, Assemble Papers.
In 2016, delivering high-quality homes that respect people, place and planet became more than something we wrote about. We completed our first project at 122 Roseneath Street, Clifton Hill, selling 67 homes off the plan. Roseneath Street brought our design ethos to life; a building designed to reduce environmental impact and support community connection, to contribute positively to its residents’ lives.
Our first project, 122 Roseneath Street in Clifton Hill, brings together smaller footprint living with connected shared spaces and a sustainable approach.
Since then, we have continued to focus on delivering high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes. We’ve introduced new innovative ways to support people to rent and purchase homes as well as conceiving investment models which are designed to deliver increased opportunity for our partners to invest and, in so doing, deliver more supply and choice in housing for more people.
In 2018, we launched our first project under our supportive purchase pathway at 38 Albermarle Street in Kensington. By fixing the rent and purchase price of these build-to-rent-to-own homes for five years, we're helping people to experience life in their homes as they save to purchase them.
We approach the design of our buildings with community connection front of mind – we love more window across our shared spaces just like at 38 Albermarle Street in Kensington.
Diversifying our housing impact
In 2020, AustralianSuper, Australia’s largest industry superfund, took a cornerstone ownership share in Assemble, and committed to investing in the next five projects delivered using our supportive purchase pathway approach.
In 2022, we partnered with Super Housing Partnerships, HESTA and Housing Choices Australia to develop and manage social, affordable, market and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes at 402 Macaulay Road, Kensington. Founded in 2022 with the support of HESTA, Super Housing Partnerships was initially focused on developing a pipeline of Victorian build-to-rent apartment projects. Since then, Super Housing Partnerships has been working with a range of government, industry and community housing partners under a third-party project delivery model which enables it to originate housing investment opportunities in all housing markets right across Australia.

In June 2024, the teams at Super Housing Partnerships and Assemble came together, combining our respective skills in investment management, development, design, community engagement and asset operations and management, becoming Assemble.
Today, Assemble's owners include AustralianSuper and HESTA as equal shareholders. Designed to further facilitate increased institutional investment in housing assets at scale, Assemble will continue to develop investment opportunities for AustralianSuper and HESTA and other investor partners.
