15 Thompson Street tops out in Kensington

08112023 ASSEMBLE 15 Thompson Street Dijana Risteska 2640x1720 010

We are thrilled to announce that we have reached the topping out milestone at our 15 Thompson Street project in Kensington, marking the completion of the structural works of our eight-storey project.

In the construction industry, ‘topping out’ celebrations are traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop of a building’s structure and the project teams come together to mark the occasion.

Joined by investor partner AustralianSuper and builder partner Hacer Group, we gathered atop of 15 Thompson Street to witness a Eucalyptus tree be hoisted to the rooftop to commemorate a milestone reached and to congratulate all involved on the progress made so far.

“Reaching top out stage at 15 Thompson Street is another exciting moment for 2023 and represents another step closer to delivering more well-connected, sustainable homes that suit people's needs and budgets.”

This announcement is one more step towards getting the plumbing right to ensure we can deliver more impact into housing and alleviate some of the symptoms of the housing crisis for people. This will make sure we can build affordable, high quality, well-designed housing in suburbs where it is needed the most.

Kris Daff, Assemble’s Managing Director

Designed by Hayball Architects with landscaping by OCULUS Studios, 15 Thompson Street will feature 199 studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and incorporates a range of communal spaces and amenities, such as a rooftop garden, a sports court, a dog park, a workshop, a lending library and a landscaped public park on the ground floor.

15 Thompson Street is our second Assemble Futures community and our third project in the suburb of Kensington; 38 Albermarle Street was completed in 2022 and construction is underway at our first Build-to-Rent community at 402 Macaulay Road.

Led by our Development Manager Stephen Dodd and Hacer Group’s Project Manager Jarrod Caveny, the construction focus at 15 Thompson Street now shifts to inside the homes and internals spaces with fit-out works commencing in the months ahead.

Heading down the final stretch of this project’s construction timeline, we look forward to seeing the project progress towards completion and welcoming our residents into their new homes in mid-2024.
