Project status

Construction is underway

We have finished piling to support the foundations of the building, and excavating (or digging) the basement. We will be installing cranes by the end of 2023, and the structure of the building will start to come out of the ground.

NatHERS rating

4 Ballarat Street is entirely electric and runs on 100% renewable energy across all heating, cooling, cooking and power and all homes are a minimum 7.5 NatHERS rating – meaning your apartment has a stable temperature no matter the climate and is more cost efficient to run.

Now’s the time for us to give up the gas. We’re proud to say that 4 Ballarat Street is 100% electric. 40kW solar panels on the roof power the building's shared spaces. In 2022 we launched Assemble Connect; our opt-in embedded energy network so you can buy 100% accredited GreenPower® and high-speed internet at lower prices.

Designed to provide a sense of home beyond your four walls, our building offers a range of meaningful experiences whether you’re working, resting, or playing. Downstairs you can make use of the shared workshop for life's messier jobs and borrow items the Lending Library to get your DIY projects finished. A ground-level series of landscaped spaces has been designed to capture the sun, creating pockets of space for moments of reflection – whether you’re alone with your thoughts or spending time with those closest to you.

Rooftop

Look up or look out. The shared rooftop on Level 8 features views of Melbourne’s skyline and provides a space that’s yours to use as and when you like. Perfect for all occasions, the roof is one of the best spots to entertain friends, grow your own food, host your next family barbeque or let your furry friends roam free in the dog run.

Waste not

We’ve created an onsite bio-composter that uses microbial technology and heat to reduce organic waste volumes caused by everyday food waste. This will turn your food waste into valuable fertiliser, which can be used to enhance the soil throughout the building’s rooftop gardens. This fertiliser can also be gifted to local community gardens, or those friends and family members with a green thumb. There’s even a worm farm onsite to help transform that organic waste into nutritious soil. 

Bike and car parking

Keep your ride safe and easily accessible with our purpose-built bike storage space. With room for more than 183 bikes and access via a dedicated entry point that separates vehicle or pedestrian traffic, there’s more incentive than ever before to trade your four wheels for two. Make use of our EV charge-point or the communal car sharing space, which can be used at any time.

4 Ballarat Street is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation. The nearby Merri Merri - or Merri Creek meaning ‘very rocky' - sustained the lives of the Wurundjeri peoples for generations as an important food source and gathering place.
